AURORA YU
俞可歆
I am Aurora Yu, incoming Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of San Diego. I received my PhD from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. My research spans early modern philosophy and ancient Greek philosophy, with particular interests in teleology, metaphysics, aesthetics, and the philosophy of religion. I am especially drawn to the history of efforts to explain the relationship of humans to nature in teleological terms — from Aristotle's account of the cosmos as a living, ordered whole to early modern thinkers such as Berkeley and Descartes, who reconceive that order in light of new science and theology. I also find joy in music, dance, and poetry. With Socrates, I believe that philosophy is the greatest kind of music (61a3).
